Although my time with the 992 was short, it was clear that Porsche had packed the car with the thoughtful, deliberate changes that it is known for. It’s not the Carrera S’s changes that are exciting, but it’s not. This is the promise that this generation has, even though it’s still in its infancy. The new brake pedal is my favorite of all the 992’s many modifications. Porsche reduced the pedal’s weight by two-thirds, rebalanced its travel ratio, and replaced the hydraulic brake booster with an electric one. Although it sounds small, the impact is huge, especially for cars with carbon-ceramic brakes such as my tester. The brakes aren’t as grabbiness as CCBs, and there’s also much more feedback. I stare out at the relatively upright windshield (the 992’s sight lines are as good as they have ever been), as I drive out of Ricardo Tormo and onto the Spanish motorway. Porsche has updated the 911’s adaptive dampers. My Guards Red test car has the Sport suspension, which, just like the 991’s, lowers the car’s ride height by 0.4 inches. RS Spyder multi-spoke wheels are 21 inches in diameter at the rear axle, and 20 inches at the front. My C4S is perfectly composed on public roads despite this aggressive setup. Source URL

After all, this car set a lap time of 6.59.927 minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This is 17 seconds faster than its predecessor. The new-and-improved 992 generation of Porsche has a lot to do with it, but Porsche also reduced weight, upgraded components, and borrowed from its motorsports wing to create something that is more distinctive than the standard sports car version. On June 11, Porsche Cars North America received a notification from California Highway Patrol that the existing test procedure (SAE J1470, March 1992) was obsolete. However, it was unable to identify a procedural process that would allow Porsche to test the 911 GT3 equipped with a manual transmission through the modern test procedure, (SAE J2805, May 2020). Discussions with regulators continued, but without visibility to a solution, we decided to inform dealers that the manual option would no longer be available in California as there would be no legal way to register cars in the state. Is the 992 Porsche 911 coming to a hybrid?
Zellner stated that the outgoing 991 generation will be the last 911 to go its entire life without an electrified version. However, his mention of the 992 suggests that the 911s currently available will be seen as unique. Porsche has a tradition of upgrading the mid-life of every 911 with a new powertrain.
